Please meet a very special new member of the CCHS family...this little doll is Gizmo. Poor Gizmo is just a baby, having been born sometime in February, 2008. Unfortunately, he has already suffered a terrible accident which left his leg badly broken. Because this was not just a simple break, he required very expensive surgery which CCHS had to pay for. In these very trying economic times, we need to ask for help to cover his very expensive surgery. If you would like to make a donation, please use the "Donate" buttons located throughout this website, or you may send a check to "Clayton County Humane Society", P.O. Box 2116, Jonesboro, Ga. 30237.
This sweet little angel is "Precious"; and she was surrendered to CCHS by her previous "owner". At the time of her surrender, Precious was suffering from a cyst on her little head, two mammary tumors, and two abdominal cysts. Her cysts and tumors have all now been removed, and she is recovering wonderfully. However, her much needed medical care has really taken a serious toll on finances. Any donations toward Precious's vet bills will be greatly appreciated and totally tax-decuctible. What Precious needs most now is a permanent home where she can complete her recovery and spend the rest of her life as a part of a family. She is approximately seven years old, weighs about seven pounds, and is completely crate-trained and housebroken. She is very gentle and affectionate, and she loves to be held and cuddled. If you have a place in your heart and home for this gentle little soul, please feel free to come by the CCHS shelter and meet her.
PRECIOUS UPDATE!
We are happy to report that Precious has now been adopted!! However, we are still struggling to recover her veterinary costs. Please consider making a donation today so that we may continue to help animals like Precious.
WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW...HE NEEDS YOUR HELP NOW!!!
This little guy is Baron. Barely a year old, Baron is sweet and carefree, and still thinks that everyone is his friend. At first glance, it is difficult to actually realize just how much pain and suffering this little angel has already endured in his short time on this Earth. The only really obvious problem is that Baron does not use his left rear leg...but as we would soon learn, his leg was just one of several serious medical problems facing poor Baron. After being contacted by Animal Control and told about this little stray dog, with a leg injury, we immediately rescued him (Baron) and took him for a complete veterinary evaluation. We learned that he is suffering from early stage heartworm infestation, and if that is not tragic enough, he has multiple fractures to his rear leg, and his hip is dislocated. Little Baron remained quite the little gentleman even as the vet manipulated his sore, swollen leg. All of his new friends at the vet's office were rewarded with lots of affection and as many tail wags as he could muster. While we know that Baron's medical needs will be very expensive, we also know that we simply MUST meet those needs so that Baron can live a long, pain-free life.As we struggle to keep our heads above water in an effort to be here to help the animals who need us, we know that a case like this takes a huge toll on our very limited budget. We are asking for your support. No matter how little, if you can help, please do. Baron will benefit from your kindness and compassion. This little angel really deserves a chance at having a long and happy life.
THE ANIMALS BELOW ARE WONDERFUL EXAMPLES OF THE KIND OF WORK WHICH IS DONE AT CLAYTON COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY. MOST ANIMALS ENTERING THE CCHS SHELTER ARE IN NEED OF, AT THE VERY LEAST, BASIC VETERINARY CARE. BUT, MANY ALSO COME IN NEEDING EXTRAORDINARY VETERINARY CARE, OR HAVE EXTREMELY SPECIAL NEEDS OR CIRCUMSTANCES THAT HAVE TO BE ADDRESSED. SOMETIMES VERY SPECIAL CONDITIONS EXIST WHICH REQUIRE THAT CCHS ASSIST ANIMALS WHO ARE NOT EVEN RESIDENTS AT THE SHELER....SITUATIONS THAT BEG FOR CCHS TO "STEP OUTSIDE THE BOX". CCHS TAKES GREAT PRIDE IN ALL OF OUR SUCCESS STORIES. PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT SOME OF OUR FAVORITES!
"Pumpkin" was orphaned when his 94 year old "mom" passed away. CCHS assisted in finding a new loving home and family for Pumpkin.
"Lady" came to CCHS after living on a chain for 5 years, and being allowed to balloon to three times what should have been her normal weight...creating a multitude of health problems for this very special girl. Lady is shown here with her new "mom"; a much happier dog and well on her way to losing her life-threatening weight.
"Madeline" was rescued from a "crack house", where she was living in squalor and being used as a "bait dog" to train other dogs being used for illegal dogfighting. CCHS secured veterinary care for Madeline, and placed her in a rescue situation where she will be allowed to recover from her past abuse and neglect, and then she will be placed in a loving home.
HELPING ANIMALS IS EXPENSIVE, AND CCHS CONSTANTLY STRUGGLES WITH FINANCIAL NEEDS. IF YOU ARE IMPRESSED WITH THE STORIES YOU HAVE JUST READ, THEN PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING CCHS WITH A FINANCIAL DONATION TODAY. THERE ARE SO MANY MORE SUCCESS STORIES OUT THERE, JUST WAITING TO HAPPEN....PLEASE HELP CCHS TO BE READY WHEN THE NEXT ONE COMES ALONG WHO DESPERATELY NEEDS OUR HELP! DONATIONS MAY BE MADE THROUGH PAYPAL BUTTONS WHICH APPEAR THROUGHOUT THIS SITE, OR CHECKS MAY BE MADE OUT TO "CLAYTON COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY" AND MAILED TO: CCHS, P.O. BOX 2116, JONESBORO, GA. 30237. (PLEASE REMEMBER, WE RECEIVE NO GOVERNMENT FUNDING OR ASSISTANCE.) ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

JENKINS HEATING AND AIR....SAVES THE DAY AT CLAYTON COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY!!When the old, outdated air-conditioning unit at the shelter recently went out, temperatures inside the building soared to over 90 degrees, and our animals were in real trouble! With no idea how to pay for repairs or replacement of the unit, CCHS management didn't know where to turn for help. We called on David Jenkins, owner of Jenkins Heating and Air, located in McDonough, Ga., someone who had done work for CCHS in the past. David was asked to evaluate the situation and give us an estimate of what the cost would be. Much to our surprise and delight, David DONATED AND INSTALLED A BRAND NEW SYSTEM!!! CCHS proudly recommends Jenkins Heating and Air to anyone in need of heating/air service. We think they're the greatest! Jenkins Heating and Air can be reached by calling 770/957-3091, and be sure to tell them that the CCHS gang sent you!

CAN YOU HELP?
It’s never pleasant to plead for money, but when you’re a Humane Society, it’s always necessary. Our increasing numbers of animals, along with the fact that so many of them are ill or injured when we get them, and most them ARE NOT YET STERILIZED, means that our medical costs always far exceed our funds. We try very hard not to repeatedly ask our supporters, over and over throughout the year, for money. We try to limit our requests to a couple of times a year. We know everyone is struggling in these difficult economic times! It’s been a long time since we last sent out a newsletter request, so we’re hoping that any of you who can help us out with a donation, would consider doing so today. All donations to CCHS are tax deductible. Checks should be made payable to: Clayton County Humane Society, and mailed to: P.O. Box 2116, Jonesboro, Ga. 30237. |
